It’s difficult not to get stressed and anxious in this crazy world we live in. Our nervous systems are constantly at work trying to find serenity and balance our stressful lifestyles and combat disease at the same time.
Herbs can support your body by helping you relax and prevent fatigue related diseases. Here are three herbs to help you find serenity:
Chamomile for Serenity
It’s one of my favourite herbs and I think everyone should have Chamomile in the house. Chamomile is a good allrounder, and relatively safe to experiment with. It is a mild herb, but that does not mean it is weak.
Chamomile is calming and soothes a person struggling with anxiety and tension as well as promote sleep and relieves pain from headaches, migraines, flu, arthritis, and gout.
It’s excellent for stress-related digestive upsets and relieves spasms, wind, indigestion, bloating, heartburn and even colic in babies. Speed up the healing of stomach ulcers and infections with Chamomile.
Additionally, it is used to soothe sore throats, fevers, respiratory infections and to enhance the immune system. Its antihistamine properties makes it a wonderful herb to treat allergies.
For the ladies, it can help to reduce PMS and menopause symptoms as well as its pains.
Lavender for Serenity
Lavender does not only make a beautiful flower in your garden, but it also makes a delicious tea.
The calming and sedative properties of lavender helps to promote sleep and is beneficial to relax your nervous tension. Lavender can stimulate the release of certain neurotransmitters which cancel out excess stress hormones in your body thereby also helping to prevent mental exhaustion. It is excellent for treating anxiety and stress related symptoms such as headaches, migraines, neuralgia and palpitations.
Lavender allows you to rest well, by doing so it helps to lift the spirit and restore energy in tiredness and nervous exhaustion.
When we are stressed our immune systems weaken, not only does lavender help to combat stress, but it also supports the immune system. It is rich in antioxidants which helps to fight oxidative stress and premature ageing.
Rooibos for Serenity
This South African brew contains a bioactive flavonoid known as chrysoeriol, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. By working as a bronchodilator, rooibos tea can help relieve the feelings of wheezing and coughing that are caused by allergic rhinitis and asthma.
Rooibos tea contains several nutrients that are antispasmodic, which helps to prevent stomach pains and muscle spasms.
Rooibos tea also has beneficial effects for the immune system. It’s full of vitamins and minerals that help support immune function and fend off invading pathogens that can make you sick. Rooibos may be effective in eliminating pathogens that cause stomach upset and diarrhoea.
Our Serenity Tea has all three of these herbs in them.
